Ofcom RID register · updated weekly

UK telecom provider directory

Ofcom issues every telephone service reseller a Reseller Identification code (RID) — and publishes the register with each company’s registered address and contact number. That makes this the only public directory of UK communications providers with addresses: 7,549 companies across 1,436 towns and cities. Browse A–Z below or download the full register as CSV.

What a RID is — and how it helps identify a caller

When a telephone service is resold — a business phone system, a calling card, an override (“18xx”) service — the reseller must hold a RID so calls can be attributed to the right company. The register is different from the range-holder index: range holders are the carriers Ofcom allocates number blocks to, while RIDs cover the much longer tail of resellers, many of which never hold their own numbers. If a company claiming to be “your phone provider” cold-calls you, its absence from both registers is a strong warning sign.

The register’s biggest registered bases are London (904), Manchester (146), Birmingham (112), Kent (95) and Bristol (93).
