Terms of use
Last updated: 2026-05-15. By using WhoCalledLookup you agree to these terms. They are written under the law of England and Wales and govern your use of the lookup service, the cornerstone guides, the API endpoints and any data we publish.
The service
WhoCalledLookup is a free, ad-supported UK reverse-phone-lookup tool operated by OmegaIT. The service combines public Ofcom Numbering Data with a live AI-powered web search to help consumers identify unknown UK callers. The service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, free of charge, without any subscription or login requirement.
Acceptable use
You may:
- Look up individual UK phone numbers for personal informational use.
- Read, share and link to the cornerstone guides.
- Embed our public per-number lookup pages via standard hyperlinks.
- Quote short extracts (≤ 150 words) of editorial content with attribution and a link to the source page.
You may not:
- Bulk-scrape or run automated mass lookups against the public endpoints. The service is rate-limited; intentional or repeated evasion is a breach of these terms and may be a Computer Misuse Act 1990 offence.
- Republish the underlying database (or any large extract) as a standalone product. Ofcom holds the source data under the Open Government Licence; we redistribute it under the same licence with attribution. Replicating our editorial layer is forbidden.
- Use the service to harass, stalk, intimidate or doxx an individual. We will cooperate with police investigations into misuse.
- Resell access to the service or its data without a written commercial agreement with OmegaIT.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to extract source code from the deployed application beyond what is publicly visible in the served HTML and JavaScript.
AI-summary disclaimer
The AI internet check on every /lookup/* page is a best-effort summary of public web content for the searched number. It is generated by a large language model and may be inaccurate, out-of-date, or incomplete. It is provided for general informational purposes only and is not legal, financial, safety or law-enforcement advice. You must independently verify any fact you rely on, particularly before deciding whether to engage with a caller, transfer money, share credentials or report a number. See our AI internet check vs database lookup guide for our methodology and known limitations.
Range-data accuracy
Range Holder allocations are sourced from Ofcom’s public Numbering Data feed, which we re-ingest weekly. Allocations may change between ingests, and any specific UK number may have been ported to a carrier other than the listed Range Holder. We do not warrant that the data is current to the second.
Intellectual property
All editorial content, design, code and artwork on WhoCalledLookup are © 2026 OmegaIT, all rights reserved, except: (a) the underlying Ofcom Numbering Data, which is licensed to us and to you under the Open Government Licence v3.0 with attribution to Ofcom; and (b) third-party trade marks (Ofcom, BT, Virgin Media O2, Sky, Vodafone, etc.), which are the property of their respective owners and used for descriptive identification only. Site code where indicated is open-sourced under the MIT License.
No warranty
To the fullest extent permitted by law, WhoCalledLookup makes no warranty, express or implied, as to the accuracy, completeness, merchantability or fitness for purpose of any data, summary or guidance shown on the site. The service may be unavailable, delayed or interrupted at any time without notice for maintenance, provider-level outages, or other reasons.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by English law, the total aggregate liability of OmegaIT and WhoCalledLookup for any claim arising out of or in connection with use of the service (whether in contract, tort including negligence, breach of statutory duty or otherwise) is limited to £100. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence, (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or (c) any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify OmegaIT and WhoCalledLookup against any loss, damage, claim or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the service, or any infringement of a third party’s rights caused by your use of the service.
Privacy
Use of the service is also governed by our Privacy policy, which explains what we log, what we do not, and your UK GDPR rights.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms or use of the service, except where mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence gives you a non-waivable right to bring proceedings locally.
Changes to these terms
Material changes are noted at the top of this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the service after a material change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
