'Apple ID compromised' call from 0207 — asked to install support tool

Got a very polished-sounding call from a 0207 London number claiming to be Apple Support saying my Apple ID had been used to make a £499 purchase in another country. The whole 30-minute pitch worked toward me installing 'Apple Diagnostic Helper' (read: AnyDesk).

Apple does not call you about Apple ID issues. They send an email or in-app notification, both verifiable in your Apple account. Anyone calling about Apple ID is a scammer.

Same call to me last week — they read out the supposed 'order ID' too which sounded convincing. The 0207 prefix is also a classic spoof: real Apple support in the UK isn't on 020.
