Microsoft 'security alert' robocall from 030 number

Automated message: 'This is Microsoft Windows support. Your computer has been compromised and is sending error reports to our security team. Press 1 to speak to a technician.' The CLI was a 0300-something number.

Microsoft does not cold-call consumers about Windows security, ever. The script ends with a 'technician' asking you to install AnyDesk or UltraViewer so they can 'fix' the problem — at which point they have remote control of your PC including your bank app.

Report to Action Fraud and Microsoft's own scam-reporting page at microsoft.com/reportascam.

Same script with 'BT support', 'Sky technical' and 'Virgin Media security' as the brand variant. Same end goal — remote access via AnyDesk/TeamViewer. None of these companies cold-call about security.

My uncle nearly fell for the BT version. Installed AnyDesk before realising. Thankfully he wasn't logged into his bank at the time and unplugged the laptop when I told him to. Now scrambling to do a full factory reset.
