'Your computer is sending error reports' — classic AnyDesk scam

Hour-long version of the tech-support scam where the caller spends 20 minutes 'showing' you fake error logs (which they generate by typing harmless commands at a Windows command prompt while screen-sharing). The dramatic 'critical errors' on screen are deliberately frightening so you'll agree to whatever remediation they propose.

The remediation is always: pay £150-£400 by gift card, transfer, or 'security deposit'. Sometimes they go straight to the bank app on your machine.

If this is happening to a relative right now: unplug the network cable / disable Wi-Fi immediately. Do not wait until the call ends.

Important addition — after a successful tech-support scam attempt, the attacker often installs a hidden remote-access tool that persists after AnyDesk is uninstalled. Best practice is a full Windows reset, not just an antivirus scan.
